6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Charlie Cliche! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cliche tries to clinch up. Cliche steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cazuka. Cazuka throws a leg kick that misses. Cliche fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Nice sprawl there from Cazuka as Cliche shoots in. Cliche moves out of range of the strikes. Cazuka throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cazuka misses with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cliche avoids the body shot from Cazuka.
Cliche shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cazuka as he jumps to the side. Danny Cazuka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Cliche. Cazuka lands a lovely overhand right. Cazuka lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cliche's sensitive parts. Danny Cazuka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cliche is fighting to break Cazuka's control of his arms but Cazuka is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Cazuka throws a sloppy head kick and Cliche moves out of range easily. Cazuka tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Cliche is able to avoid easily. Cazuka shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Cliche looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Cazuka!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cliche lands a heavy elbow. Cazuka blocking the ground and pound. Cliche thowing shots but they're missing. Cliche throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Cliche unloads with some shots from mount but Cazuka bucks and avoids them well.
Cliche thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cliche lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Cliche connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Jeez, Danny Cazuka's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
