PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Loki Lazerous (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arttu Attila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arttu Attila told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arttu Attila!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lazerous fails to land with a series of punches.

Lazerous moves into the clinch.
Attila is trying to drag Lazerous to the mat but Lazerous just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Attila wants a takedown but no success here.
Lazerous is trying to force a seperation but Attila has the dominant position.
Attila wants to get back to striking at distance but Lazerous won't allow it.
Lazerous tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Lazerous jumps into guard, dragging Attila to the mat.

Attila drops back looking for a leg! Lazerous is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lazerous manages to kick Attila off! Attila jumps back into Lazerous's guard.
Lazerous knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Attila on the ground.

Attila postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Attila is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Attila is stalling here. Lazerous is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Attila seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lazerous has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Attila has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lazerous controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Lazerous wants to control from the top but Attila keeps moving.
Lazerous engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

We're going to have a standup here because Loki Lazerous wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Lazerous swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lazerous lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lazerous.

It looks like Arttu Attila has been cut.
Lazerous rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Attila moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lazerous throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Attila colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Lazerous as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Attila is left battered and dazed whilst Lazerous and his camp cheer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Loki Lazerous!
In his post fight interview, Loki Lazerous started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
