Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Velazquez throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Materson walks into a jab.
Velazquez ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Velazquez looks to land a left hand but Materson moved out of range nicely.

and Materson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Materson.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

A decent looking cross lands there for Velazquez.
Velazquez steps in with a hook that catches Materson right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Velazquez follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Materson looks absolutely devastated.
