The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Matson throws a head kick that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Matson sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Anthony gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Matson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Justin Anthony.
