Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Christopher Eccleston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Genival Lacerda! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eccleston tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lacerda swivels and escapes. Lacerda thumps Eccleston with a low kick. Eccleston misses the shot to the body. Lacerda clinches up with Eccleston and pushes him back against the cage. Lacerda is defending well against a takedown attempt. Eccleston has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Eccleston prevents a takedown attempt there.
Lacerda drops down looking for an ankle pick but Eccleston pulls his leg out and moves away.
Eccleston feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Eccleston distracts Lacerda with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Lacerda is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Eccleston postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Eccleston distracts Lacerda with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Eccleston working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Lacerda has his foot on Eccleston's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Eccleston works his way back into a safe position though. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Eccleston with a flurry of punches that miss. Eccleston lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Lacerda is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Eccleston defends well. Lacerda looking for subs off his back but Eccleston has passed one foot through into half guard.
Lacerda slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Lacerda keeping moving, preventing Eccleston from controlling successfully. Lacerda wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eccleston postures up.
Eccleston postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Lacerda looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Eccleston wants to control from the top but Lacerda keeps moving. Eccleston might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Eccleston accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Lacerda has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Eccleston doesn't defend quickly enough and Lacerda has managed to lock this one up! Can Eccleston escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Lacerda on a fantastic submission victory.
