Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Takeshi Kovacks!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Palmer Ward!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward misses with a few strikes there.
Ward moves in looking to clinch but Kovacks pushes him off.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Some bone on bone action there as Ward checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Kovacks lands a body shot.
Ward keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ward ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kovacks moves away.
Ward ducks under a wild hook from Kovacks.
Kovacks tries to land a leg kick but Ward saw it coming and moves away.
Kovacks connects with a nice looking jab.
Ward throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A head kick misses from Kovacks.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kovacks.
Kovacks misses with the ground and pound.
Ward regains half guard, as Kovacks was trying to land strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kovacks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kovacks lands a nice short elbow.
Kovacks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kovacks not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Kovacks prevents Ward from standing back up.

Kovacks thows a huge punch but Ward dodges it nicely.

Kovacks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ward keeps working.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ward can do anything to dispel that myth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kovacks lands with a punch from half guard.
Kovacks working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Kovacks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ward with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kovacks is trying to control. Ward wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Ward avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kovacks.
Ward keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ward is trying to stand.
Kovacks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Kovacks thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ward's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kovacks uses his free foot to push down on Ward's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ward.

That has opened up Palmer Ward's cut even more.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kovacks scores with a couple of good head shots there.


Palmer Ward's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Palmer Ward's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Takeshi Kovacks!
