Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Dexter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Jeff Sobchak ! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sobchak tries to move into range but Dexter moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
It looks like Jeff Sobchak has been cut. Sobchak looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Sobchak fails with the takedown and Dexter counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Dexter throws the kick towards the body but Sobchak avoids it. Sobchak checks a leg kick. Dexter tries for a takedown but Sobchak sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A nice combination there by Dexter.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nice sprawl there from Sobchak as Dexter shoots in. Dexter lands a lovely overhand right. Sobchak moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Dexter lands a head shot. Dexter misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sobchak .
Dexter tries for a takedown but Sobchak sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Dexter. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sobchak avoids the body shot from Dexter.
Sobchak tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dexter paws at him with a jab and circles away. Dexter cracks Sobchak with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dexter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sobchak avoids it really well and circles away. Dexter avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sobchak walks into a straight right hand from Dexter. Dexter cracks Sobchak with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. A momentary lapse in concentration from Sobchak enables Dexter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sobchak manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dexter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Sobchak wants to stand up but Dexter is controlling him. Dexter in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Dexter gets to his feet - Sobchak follows without any prompting.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dexter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Sobchak takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dexter looks to score with a jab to the body but Sobchak is just out of range. Sobchak takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Dexter takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Dexter is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Dexter throws a sloppy head kick and Sobchak moves out of range easily. Mark Dexter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sobchak slaps away a takedown attempt from Dexter, before circling back to the center of the mat. Dexter is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Sobchak misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Dexter is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Dexter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sobchak as he avoids it easily. Dexter misses with a takedown attempt and Sobchak counters with a nice body kick. Dexter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sobchak moves away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sobchak displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dexter. Dexter avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Sobchak takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Sobchak lands a nice shot to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dexter. Dexter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Dexter missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Sobchak tries to kick Dexter off but Dexter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Dexter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dexter is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sobchak doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Dexter. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dexter is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sobchak is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

A very excited looking Mark Dexter made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
