Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Riviera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Barnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Riviera has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Jorge Riviera has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnett gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Riviera counters with a takedown into side control.
Barnett is trying to control Riviera's posture but Riviera avoids it.

Riviera is looking to take a break and control but Barnett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Riviera tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Riviera has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jorge Riviera dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Barnett dives in and grabs Riviera's left leg, looking for a takedown. Riviera pushes down on Barnett's head and hops out.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Barnett.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnett moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Barnett counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Riviera thinking.

Barnett is controlling Riviera's trapped leg to prevent Riviera from advancing to side control.

Riviera is nestled in close to Barnett, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Riviera is looking for submissions but instead, Barnett has regained full guard.
Barnett is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Barnett has his foot on Riviera's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Riviera works his way back into a safe position though.

Barnett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Riviera can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Barnett working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Riviera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Riviera manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Riviera stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barnett swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Barnett has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Riviera doesn't defend quickly enough and Barnett has managed to lock this one up! Can Riviera escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Barnett on a fantastic submission victory.
