Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Muerte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Morales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Muerte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Morales!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morales ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Muerte moves away.
Morales avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fighters circle momentarily. Muerte darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


It looks like Carlos Morales has been cut.

Muerte drives through with a takedown into Morales's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Muerte lands a couple of elbows.
Muerte throwing strikes from guard but Morales blocks nicely.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Muerte loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Morales can't keep his opponent in guard - Muerte advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Muerte winds up and cracks Morales with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Muerte is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Morales is just riding it out for now. Muerte eventually gives up the hold.

Muerte seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Morales does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Muerte is looking to take a break and control but Morales is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Muerte throws a nice looking combination but Morales bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Carlos Morales seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Muerte shoots in but Morales avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Morales takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Morales closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Muerte is looking to reverse the position.
Muerte is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Muerte wants to control but Morales is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Muerte pushes Morales off looking to stand but Morales dives back in and keeps control.
Muerte trying to control but Morales postures up.
Muerte regains full guard. Nicely done.
Muerte pulls Morales in close to his closed guard and prevents Morales from doing any damage or advancing position.
Muerte controls Morales momentarily but Morales frees himself.
Thiago Muerte overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Morales wants to stand but Muerte has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We're going to have a standup here because Thiago Muerte wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Morales lands a jab to the nose.
Good shot there by Muerte.
Morales tries to land a front kick but Muerte steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Muerte tries to clinch up.
Morales looks to land a combination but Muerte avoids it well.
Muerte looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Morales is fending him off so far but Muerte persists. Nope, Morales circles away and we're back to standing.

Muerte shoots in looking for a takedown but Morales manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Muerte's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Morales advances to full mount.
Muerte tries to reverse the position but Morales maintains control.
Morales trying to control but Muerte is having none of it.
Muerte has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Morales lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Muerte circles away quickly and effectively.

That has opened up Carlos Morales's cut even more.

Morales throws a series of punches but Muerte moves out of range.

Muerte drops Morales with a left and a right! Oh, Morales is hurt - Muerte dives into side control looking to finish!

Morales manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Muerte in particular looking to stall.

Muerte looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Morales is staying active underneath Muerte, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Muerte has hold of Morales's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Morales manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The cut above Carlos Morales's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Carlos Morales's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
