Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Devon James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joseph Donelly! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Skip Squint and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James moves out of range of the strikes. Donelly swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Donelly tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Joseph Donelly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Donelly blocks a jab. Donelly misses with a wild body shot. James shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Donelly digs a good body shot into James's ribs. Donelly throws a series of punches but James moves out of range. James swings away with a body shot that misses
and Donelly counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Donelly moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Donelly slips a jab and a cross from James.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice shot by Donelly. Joseph Donelly is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Good leg kick by Donelly there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
James lands with an uppercut that bounces Donelly off the cage and back into range. James works Donelly's body with a nice hook. James on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. James chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Donelly can pounce on him.
Donelly lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Donelly avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Donk. Donelly catches James right on the button with a cross.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sloppy strikes from James. Those never looked like landing. Donelly scores with a jab to the body. Donelly turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Donelly swings and misses with a hook to the body.
James moves into the clinch successfully.
James wants to break free but Donelly has control.
James is trying to force a seperation but Donelly has the dominant position. Donelly keeps control of James as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Donelly struggles to land a body shot inside as James controls his hands.
James tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Donelly just stands there and leans against the cage. James can't break the clinch.
Donelly lands a hook to the side of the head. Donelly tries to work over James's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James is trying to break the clinch but Donelly has him pressed against the cage. A left hand lands to the body for Donelly.
Donelly lands a body punch in the clinch. James looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Donelly throws a punch but it's blocked by James. Donelly presses James against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Donelly blocks a body shot from James. Donelly prevents James from breaking the clinch. A right hook to the body lands for Donelly.
Donelly is defending well against a takedown attempt. Donelly has James pressed against the cage, preventing James from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Donelly lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down James. James wants to break free but Donelly has control.
Donelly lands a shoulder strike. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Donelly tried to land a shot to the body but connects with James's elbow. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Donelly.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Donelly makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Donelly misses with a shot to the kidneys.
James blocks an uppercut.
Donelly escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Donelly cracks James with an open hand slap. Donelly scores with a jab to the body. James checks a leg kick. Donelly keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
James doesn't manage to clinch there - Donelly circles away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! James shoots for a takedown but Donelly saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Devon James. That's going to take a lot out of him. James throws a right and a left that Donelly avoids nicely. Donelly tests James's chin there with a solid looking shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joseph Donelly dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Donelly scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Donelly throws a head kick that misses. James ducks right into an uppercut from Donelly.
James is rocked! Donelly lands with a nice body punch. Donelly scores with the left hand. James knows he should have avoided that one. Oh James is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Donelly lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!
