PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Billy Bunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Chalas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luis Chalas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Bunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luis Chalas!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bunter scores with a jab. Chalas acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Bunter scores with a shot to the body.
Chalas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bunter's waist but Bunter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chalas off to one side.
Bunter swings for the body but Chalas moves out of range.
A jab from Bunter finds it's way through Chalas's defenses.
Chalas gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Chalas is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bunter throws a hook but Chalas avoids it easily.

and Chalas counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Chalas is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bunter is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Chalas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chalas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Chalas goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bunter rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Chalas's guard! Nice work there by Bunter!

Bunter got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chalas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bunter has managed to get both his arms back between Chalas's legs - danger averted.

Chalas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bunter wants to stand but Chalas is controlling his posture from full guard.

Bunter is pushing down on Chalas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Chalas is fighting to maintain full guard but Bunter has managed to sneak the leg through.
Bunter wants to stand but Chalas has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Chalas postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bunter is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Chalas, into his guard.

Chalas throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bunter uses it to pass to side control.

Chalas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bunter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Chalas throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bunter escapes and throws Chalas's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Bunter decides to stand up, so the ref orders Chalas to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bunter shoots in but no luck this time.
Bunter is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chalas.
Bunter scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Bunter looks to score with a jab to the body but Chalas is just out of range.
Bunter connects with a right hand. Chalas shakes it off.
Chalas takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bunter thuds a left hand into Chalas's body.
Bunter lands a jab to Chalas's midsection.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Billy Bunter will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Chalas fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bunter avoids it really well and circles away.

Luis Chalas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bunter. Chalas does a little dance to reset his feet.

Bunter shoots in but Chalas avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Chalas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bunter tries to avoid it but Chalas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bunter to the ground. Bunter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chalas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bunter wants to pass the guard but Chalas is keeping the position.

Chalas avoids the body shot from Bunter.
Bunter throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Bunter throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bunter jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Bunter throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Chalas counters with a shoot takedown. Bunter fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Chalas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bunter manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Chalas has Bunter in his guard.

Chalas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Chalas has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bunter is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Chalas.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Chalas tries to get back to half guard but can't.

And that's the end of the fight!
Billy Bunter showed his dominance in that final round.

Billy Bunter decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
