Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Gordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Staal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Gordan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Staal! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gordan stuffs the takedown. Gordan lands a left and a right that sends Staal crashing to the canvas! Gordan dives into mount looking to finish!
Staal is rocked! Staal is looking to get to half guard. Staal is still in real trouble! Can Gordan finish him? Gordan wants to stand but Staal is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Staal seems to have recovered his senses. Staal is looking to improve his position but Gordan isn't that keen on the idea. Staal takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Staal is trying desperately to improve position. Gordan wants to control the pace but Staal is squirming around nicely. Staal working to try and regain half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gordan trying to control but Staal is having none of it. Gordan prevents Staal from getting the reversal. Gordan trying to control but he's not successful this time. Staal working to try and regain half guard.
Staal regains half guard. Staal moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Staal throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Gordan slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Staal throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Staal had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gordan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Staal Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gordan's back instead. Gordan showing good submission defense here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Staal keeps control of the position as Gordan tries to break free.
Gordan rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Staal is looking to advance position but Gordan won't allow it. Staal looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Staal with the ground and pound but Gordan uses the opportunity to regain guard. Gordan trying to control the position.
Gordan pulls Staal in close to his closed guard and prevents Staal from doing any damage or advancing position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gordan looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Staal landing some decent shots from guard. Staal is working Gordan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Gordan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Staal trying to control but Gordan is working from the bottom. Gordan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Gordan dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Gordan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Staal counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Staal moves out of range of the leg kick from Gordan. Jay Gordan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gordan wants to clinch and Staal counters with a nice uppercut. Gordan throws a leg kick and Staal counters with a right hand to the body. Gordan throws a leg kick and Staal counters with an outside leg kick.
A leg kick checked by Staal. Jay Gordan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gordan stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Staal. Staal rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gordan moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Staal shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gordan's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Staal postures up in Gordan's guard and throws a big left but Gordan blocks it. Staal lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Gordan is rocked! Staal content to stall in guard here. Oh Gordan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Staal cracks Gordan with a solid left hand. Staal works over Gordan with some ground and pound from guard. Staal postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Staal showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Staal postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Staal postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Staal landing some decent shots from guard. Staal has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Staal scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Staal controls from within his opponent's guard. Staal is in close to Gordan's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gordan has momentary wrist control but Staal slips an elbow through the middle. Staal with a nice head shot there. Staal arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Gordan's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
