Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Byrd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenny Morrison told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Byrd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenny Morrison!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morrison throws a sloppy head kick

and Byrd counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Morrison has eaten all the pies!
Morrison looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Byrd decides to return to a standing position.
Morrison displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Byrd.

Morrison gets caught flat footed, as Byrd shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Byrd forces his way into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Byrd wants to control but Morrison is keeping him busy.
Byrd is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Morrison is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Byrd is taking a breather. Morrison says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Michael Byrd just wasn't active enough.

Byrd gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Byrd jumps guard.
Byrd is pulling down on Morrison's head to control his posture.
Morrison throws an elbow that misses. Byrd uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Morrison's guard. Nice move by Byrd!
Byrd pushes down on Morrison's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Byrd slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Byrd uses his free foot to push down on Morrison's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Morrison.
Byrd unloading with bombs!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Byrd has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Morrison is forced to tap!
