Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Gouldmeister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jordan Welsh!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gouldmeister fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Welsh, pushing him back against the cage.
Gouldmeister tries to pull guard but Welsh holds him up against the cage and eventually Gouldmeister drops back down to his feet.
Gouldmeister jumps guard but Welsh stands there with Gouldmeister around his waist. Gouldmeister gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Gouldmeister effectively controlling the action here.

Welsh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gouldmeister shoots in and drives through. Welsh sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Gouldmeister. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Welsh lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gouldmeister circles away quickly and effectively.
Gouldmeister shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Welsh but Welsh pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Gouldmeister is looking to clinch but Welsh is avoiding it.
Gouldmeister shoots in but Welsh avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Welsh keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Welsh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gouldmeister but Gouldmeister pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Welsh tries to bum rush Gouldmeister with a series of wild strikes but Gouldmeister uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Gouldmeister decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Gouldmeister seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Welsh for as long as he can get away with.

Gouldmeister feints and as Welsh raises his hands in defense, Gouldmeister changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Welsh fails with an attempt to clinch.
Welsh tries to close the distance and clinch but Gouldmeister swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gouldmeister shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Welsh's guard.

Gouldmeister tries to free his leg and advance position but Welsh is retaining full guard.
Gouldmeister sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Gouldmeister stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Welsh swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gouldmeister is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gouldmeister stands and steps away. Welsh gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Welsh keeps the fight on the outside.

Gouldmeister tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Gouldmeister closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Welsh to the mat! Welsh manages to get full guard.
Welsh looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Gouldmeister gets to his feet. Welsh looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Gouldmeister punishes Welsh's body with a nice straight punch.

Welsh will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Gouldmeister shoots in and bounces Welsh off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Welsh looking for a sweep. Not yet Welsh, not yet.

Welsh is working an open guard so Gouldmeister takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Welsh is defended easily by Gouldmeister.

Gouldmeister jumps into guard, dragging Welsh to the mat.
Gouldmeister wants to sweep here but Welsh controlling him for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gouldmeister is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Gouldmeister takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Welsh takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Gouldmeister has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Nathan Gouldmeister overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Nathan Gouldmeister has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Welsh gets caught flat footed, as Gouldmeister shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gouldmeister controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Gouldmeister is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Welsh can do to turn this around?

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Welsh jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Gouldmeister walks away with a smile on his face. Welsh gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Gouldmeister's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Gouldmeister duly obliges.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Welsh gets caught napping as Gouldmeister dives in and scores a takedown. Welsh manages to retain guard.

Well Gouldmeister has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
