Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Hodgins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Baby Kub! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hodgins moves into the clinch. Hodgins landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Kub is trying to pull guard but Hodgins has him pressed against the cage. Hodgins has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Kub is trying to keep an underhook but Hodgins manages to get the takedown into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Hodgins stands up out of the half guard. Kub shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hodgins counters by moving into the clinch. Hodgins lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Hodgins pushes Kub back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Hodgins scores a nice knee to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action! Hodgins breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Hodgins gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hodgins trying to mount his opponent but Kub defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hodgins is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Kub looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Kub is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hodgins scores with a couple of nice shots. Hodgins looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Kub looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Hodgins seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Hodgins decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hodgins moves into range and clinches up with Kub. Hodgins lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Hodgins pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Kub doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hodgins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Alexander Hodgins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Baby Kub. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kub looking for submissions off his back. Kub looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Hodgins is looking to advance position but Kub won't allow it. Hodgins is keen to just control but Kub is a slippery customer. Kub actively working from the bottom here. Hodgins is nestled in close to Kub, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hodgins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kub looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Hodgins is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kub has managed to free his arm - good work. Hodgins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kub does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kub looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Hodgins looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hodgins lands a decent elbow from side control. Kub tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hodgins wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexander Hodgins dominated that round. That's time! Hodgins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hodgins slaps away a takedown attempt from Kub, before circling back to the center of the mat. Kub shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hodgins sprawls well. Hodgins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kub gets slowly back to his feet. Danga de danga de dang - Hodgins scores with a four punch combination! Hodgins gets a clinch. Kub letting Hodgins take a breather here. Hodgins gets a trip takedown into half guard. Hodgins is working for a kimura but Kub is defending it quite comfortably.
Hodgins frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Kub keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Kub is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Hodgins is in the full mount, landing strikes. Hodgins landing strikes from the mount and Kub is in trouble! Kub tries to reverse the position but Hodgins maintains control. Hodgins landing strikes from the mount. Hodgins with good strikes from the mount here!
Kub is rocked! Kub is looking to get to half guard. Kub is still in real trouble! Can Hodgins finish him? Hodgins controlling the position easily from mount. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hodgins wants to control the pace but Kub is squirming around nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kub is in all sorts of trouble here.

Kub is desperately trying to improve his position but Hodgins has a good base and remains in mount. BOOM! Hodgins connects with a massive shot to the dome!
A big strike lands for Hodgins! That's really hurt Kub and he's turned his back - Hodgins keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Hodgins jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
