4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Andersson! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kosonen thows a body shot but no joy. Andersson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Kosonen is looking for a sweep. Andersson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Andersson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Kosonen throws a right and a left that both miss. Andersson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kosonen. Kosonen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kosonen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Andersson manages to avoid it. Andersson shoots in but Kosonen avoids the takedown attempt easily. Andersson slips under a jab. Andersson staying out of range there. Kosonen lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Andersson backs up against the cage.
It looks like Daniel Andersson has been cut. Kosonen is breathing heavily. Kosonen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Kosonen blocks Andersson's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Andersson is looking to get to half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Andersson can do anything to dispel that myth. Andersson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Kosonen lands a decent punch to the body there. Kosonen throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Andersson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kosonen. Andersson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Kosonen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Kosonen misses with the combination.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Andersson ducks right into an uppercut from Kosonen. Andersson shoots in but no luck this time. Irmeli Kosonen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A jab from Kosonen misses. A combination from Kosonen does no damage. Andersson misses with a takedown attempt - Kosonen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Irmeli Kosonen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Andersson. Kosonen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Andersson. Irmeli Kosonen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Horrible takedown by Andersson or perhaps it was just good defense by Kosonen which made him look bad. Kosonen looks to land a combination. Andersson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Kosonen ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Kosonen throws out a loose jab but Andersson uses good head movement to avoid it. Kosonen lands a lovely overhand right. Andersson punishes Kosonen's body with a nice straight punch. This has been an exciting period of action! Kosonen lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Andersson falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!
