Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Claudio Costa!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas just misses with a punch to the body.
Lucas fails with a takedown attempt.
Costa scores with a leg kick.
Costa throws a quick inside leg kick.
Lucas takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Nice jab there from Costa.
Costa throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Costa lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Costa gets caught napping as Lucas dives in and scores a takedown. Costa manages to retain guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lucas content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lucas accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lucas throws a big elbow that misses.
Costa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Costa keeping moving, preventing Lucas from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lucas missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lucas tries to free his leg and advance position but Costa is retaining full guard.
Lucas not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Costa avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lucas landing some decent shots from guard.
Costa utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Lucas working some strikes from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lucas wants to control from the top but Costa keeps moving.
Lucas missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lucas stands and throws Costa's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Lucas looks up at the clock and then as Costa takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Lucas smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lucas taking a breather here.
Costa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lucas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Costa takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Lucas working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Costa seems a little lost for a moment, as Lucas dominates the positioning.
Lucas creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Costa sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Lucas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Lucas throws an elbow but Costa slips to the side and avoids it well.
A lull in the action here.
An elbow from Lucas crashes against the mat.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Costa managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Lucas.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lucas in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Lucas working the head and body with strikes.
Costa looks gassed!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lucas grinds an elbow into Costa's temple.
Lucas is looking to take a break and control but Costa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lucas cracks Costa with a big right hand but Costa just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lucas looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Costa is avoiding damage well.
Lucas scores with a couple of short elbows.
Lucas lands a big left to the face of Costa, bouncing his head like a basketball. Another shot from Lucas and another - Costa is out! Lucas stands up and salutes his fans, who are going crazy in the stands.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Matthew Lucas!
