PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ari Birmiski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Herzog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Birmiski comes to the cage accompanied by I'm Back - T.I. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Viktor Herzog was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ari Birmiski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Viktor Herzog!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herzog fails with the takedown
enabling Birmiski to counter with a crisp jab.
Herzog is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Birmiski misses the shot to the body.

Birmiski closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Herzog quickly recovers to half guard.

Herzog can't keep his opponent in guard - Birmiski advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Horrible takedown by Herzog or perhaps it was just good defense by Birmiski which made him look bad.

Birmiski decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Birmiski is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Herzog doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Birmiski.

Herzog is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Birmiski's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Birmiski's back!

Herzog lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Herzog.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Herzog goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Birmiski escapes and is now in half guard on top.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Birmiski scores with a couple of good head shots there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Birmiski's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Birmiski thuds a left hand into Herzog's body.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Birmiski. Herzog shrugs it off though.
Herzog tries to clinch but Birmiski moves out of range.
Herzog closes the distance and clinches up with Birmiski, looking for a takedown. Herzog pushes Birmiski against the cage but Birmiski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Herzog tries to score a power double leg takedown but Birmiski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Herzog somewhat.

and Birmiski counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Birmiski is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Herzog has managed to free his arm - good work.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Birmiski uses his free foot to push down on Herzog's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Herzog.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Birmiski holds on and takes a little breather.

Viktor Herzog was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
