The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves looking to score a takedown here. Knox is defending well but Alves drives through and ends up in Knox's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Knox has his foot on Alves's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alves works his way back into a safe position though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alves accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Knox has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Alves is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Knox.

Alves is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Knox is trying to escape and Alves transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Knox is forced to tap! Nice work there by Alves! Very nice indeed!
