Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Japan Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Wash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Japan Fighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Owen Wash!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wash connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Wash closes this distance looking for a takedown but Fighter circles away.
Fighter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wash circles away.

Fighter shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wash napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Wash tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Fighter is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Wash will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Fighter tries to advance to mount but can't.
Fighter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wash keeps working.

Wash wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Fighter.
Wash wants to control but Fighter is having none of it.

Fighter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Wash shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fighter pinned against the cage. Fighter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Fighter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Wash!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wash in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Wash tries to close the distance and clinch but Fighter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Fighter has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Wash is trying to keep Fighter in close.

Wash tries to clinch but Fighter is having none of it.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fighter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fighter controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Fighter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fighter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wash on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Japan Fighter wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Fighter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wash as he avoids it easily.

Fighter looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Fighter throws a strike but Wash rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Fighter throws his legs up looking for a submission but Wash uses it to pass to side control.
Wash is looking to take a break and control but Fighter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Fighter gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Fighter wants to control but Wash is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Fighter controlling the position for now.
Fighter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wash is working away from the top position though.
Wash wants to take a breather but Fighter is having none of it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fighter looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wash gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Japan Fighter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Japan Fighter just wasn't active enough.
Fighter is trying hard to land a takedown here. Wash sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Wash looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Wash shoots in looking for a takedown but Fighter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wash's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Fighter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Wash is trying to control but can't.
Fighter looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Fighter not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Wash wants to get back to full guard.
Wash takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fighter is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Fighter uses his free foot to push down on Wash's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wash.

Fighter's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fighter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
