Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Apete Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Apete Robinson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Johnson! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson has a takedown stuffed. Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign! Robinson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Robinson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Johnson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Robinson circles away. Robinson staying out of range there. Johnson darts in and clinches Robinson up against the cage. Robinson tries for a takedown but Johnson manages to get underhooks.
Robinson manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Johnson is stalling in the full guard. Johnson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Robinson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Johnson passes into half guard. Johnson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Robinson's head. Robinson tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control. Johnson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Johnson tries to pass to full mount but Robinson defends it. Robinson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Robinson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Johnson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Robinson is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Johnson is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Robinson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Johnson goes for an armbar but Robinson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Robinson. Johnson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Robinson is bucking up trying to escape but Johnson cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Johnson tries to clinch up. Robinson tries to clinch up but Johnson circles away and keeps his distance. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by Robinson. Robinson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Robinson somewhat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Robinson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Apete Robinson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt. Apete Robinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Robinson tries to clinch but fails miserably and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Robinson won't be happy with that. Johnson is chipping away with strikes.
Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Robinson has escaped the position, nice work there. Robinson tries to buck Johnson off but Johnson is having none of it. Robinson manages to get back to half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Johnson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Robinson tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control. Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Robinson's head.

Johnson is nestled in close to Robinson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Robinson is staying active underneath Johnson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Robinson wants to get back to full guard. Robinson is looking to control Johnson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Robinson avoid being mounted? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Robinson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Johnson scores with a couple of nice shots. Johnson is looking for a kimura but Robinson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnson to get the leverage. Johnson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Michael Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Johnson stalks Robinson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Robinson's face. Robinson staggers backwards, shaken. Robinson feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Robinson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Johnson seems keen to control Robinson's posture. Johnson is looking for a triangle here but Robinson uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Robinson trying to control the position but Johnson is working away. Johnson wants to control but Robinson postures up. Robinson wants to take a breather but Johnson manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Robinson. Robinson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Johnson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Robinson won't allow Johnson to sweep him here. Johnson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Johnson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Johnson wants to control but Robinson is keeping him busy. Johnson with the ground and pound but Robinson uses the opportunity to regain guard. Johnson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Robinson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson wants to control from the top but Robinson keeps moving. Michael Johnson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Robinson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Johnson landing some decent shots from guard. Robinson keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully. Johnson throws a strike but Robinson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Johnson is adopting a defensive guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Robinson wants to stand but Johnson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Robinson trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom. Johnson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Apete Robinson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Robinson is not content to let Johnson control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Michael Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
