Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Harvey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejandro Zapata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harvey comes to the cage accompanied by Bitches Brew. Zapata has chosen Tres Delinquentes as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doug Harvey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alejandro Zapata! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harvey uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Zapata. Harvey fails with a takedown attempt. Harvey tries to clinch but Zapata moves out of range. Harvey does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Zapata circles away from the clinch attempt.

Harvey closes the distance and clinches up with Zapata, looking for a takedown. Harvey pushes Zapata against the cage but Zapata circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Alejandro Zapata seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Harvey with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Zapata to score with a decent uppercut. Harvey misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Doug Harvey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Zapata scores with a hook to the body. Harvey takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zapata ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Harvey moves away. Harvey uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Zapata.
Zapata looks to score with a jab to the body but Harvey is just out of range. Zapata throws a shot from downtown. Harvey moves away and avoids it. Zapata tests Harvey's chin there with a solid looking shot. Harvey blocks the body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Harvey walks into a jab. Harvey tries to clinch but Zapata moves away and Zapata counters with a nice body shot. Harvey misses with a leg kick and Zapata counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Harvey! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zapata has control of Harvey's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Harvey regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Zapata tries to control but Harvey wriggling away. Zapata fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harvey is desperately trying to improve his position but Zapata has a good base and remains in mount. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Zapata cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Zapata cracks Harvey with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Zapata jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Harvey is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Harvey and Zapata has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Zapata is landing with some decent strikes but Harvey is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Harvey tries to hold on but Zapata postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Zapata looking for a guillotine from mount but Harvey is having none of it. Zapata jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Harvey is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Harvey and Zapata has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Zapata trying to control the position but Harvey is working away. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Harvey tries to bench press Zapata off him but Zapata keeps the position. Zapata wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Harvey, who protects the arm well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alejandro Zapata dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Harvey counters with a lovely shot to the body. Harvey misses the body punch and Zapata counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Harvey avoids the body shot from Zapata.

That's one minute gone in the round. Zapata looks to throw the jab but Harvey is out of range. Zapata throws a shot from downtown. Harvey moves away and avoids it. Harvey doesn't succeed with the takedown and Zapata counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Zapata. Harvey is trying to keep Zapata in close.
Zapata slips nicely into half guard. Harvey tries to get to full guard but Zapata has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zapata seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Harvey has recovered full guard. Zapata postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Harvey has Zapata pulled in close to control his posture. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Zapata pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Harvey is keeping the position for now. Zapata throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harvey looking to hit a scissor sweep but Zapata is one step ahead there. Zapata throws a big right hand that misses. Harvey looking to control.
Harvey is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Zapata throws a strike but Harvey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Zapata looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Zapata keeping moving, preventing Harvey from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Harvey landing some decent shots from guard. Zapata is trying to keep Harvey in close.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Harvey wants to pass the guard but Zapata is keeping the position. Harvey stopping the sweep attempt from Zapata. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alejandro Zapata showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Harvey feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Zapata's calf. Zapata misses the shot to the body. Jab from Harvey. Harvey turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Doug Harvey is winning the standup battle so far. Zapata tries to bum rush Harvey with a series of wild strikes but Harvey uses good footwork to avoid the assault. A big right from Harvey misses. Zapata avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Zapata shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Harvey is trying to defend but Zapata finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harvey is looking for a sweep. Zapata is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Zapata is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Harvey has managed to free his arm - good work. Harvey wants to improve his position but Zapata is controlling well.

Doug Harvey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harvey is trying to get back to full guard. Zapata moves into full mount! Harvey won't be happy about that! Zapata goes for an armbar but Harvey turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Harvey. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Zapata is looking for a triangle but Harvey pushes his legs off easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Zapata has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Harvey is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Zapata. Zapata takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Zapata is not content to let Harvey control the position. Zapata tries to improve position but can't. Harvey scoring with punches and elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harvey looks up at the clock and then as Zapata takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Harvey smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Alejandro Zapata is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Zapata is rocked! Harvey scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Zapata is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Harvey can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Doug Harvey! A very excited looking Doug Harvey made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
