Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Ribeiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ribeiro comes into the arena with Calm Like a Bomb blaring out of the sound system. John Ribeiro has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Ribeiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Power! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Power with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ribeiro to score with a decent uppercut. Ribeiro misses with a right hand and Power decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ribeiro's guard. Ribeiro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Power trying to control the position from guard on top but Ribeiro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ribeiro has his foot on Power's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Power works his way back into a safe position though. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Power working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ribeiro's head. Ribeiro working for a triangle but Power defends it easily.
Power slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Ribeiro working for a triangle but Power defends it easily.
Power with a flurry of punches that miss. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Power wants to control from the top but Ribeiro keeps moving. Ribeiro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Power gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ribeiro wants to sweep here but Power controlling him for the moment. Power must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Power trying to control the position from guard on top but Ribeiro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ribeiro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Power controls the pace.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Scott Power hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Ribeiro connects with a good right hand that stumbles Power. Power circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Power has closed the distance and engaged Ribeiro in a clinch.
Power turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ribeiro tries to bench press Power off him but Power keeps the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Power happy to just control the position for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Power wants to control but Ribeiro is keeping him busy. Ribeiro is looking to regain half guard here but Power keeps moving and retains side control. Power decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ribeiro to his feet. Power gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ribeiro. Ribeiro keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Ribeiro throws a lazy right hand but Power sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Power takes one to the side of the head.
Ribeiro fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Power, pushing him back against the cage. Ribeiro wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Power keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ribeiro's efforts to push away. Ribeiro pulls Power into guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Power trying to control but Ribeiro is working from the bottom. Ribeiro looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ribeiro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Power gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Power really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ribeiro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Power wants to control from the top but Ribeiro keeps moving. Ribeiro looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Power passes into side control.
Power decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ribeiro to his feet. Ribeiro shoots in and gets a takedown into Power's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ribeiro drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Power manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ribeiro has Power in his guard. Power wants to control from the top but Ribeiro keeps moving. Power is in close to Ribeiro's body, working some short punches and elbows. Power trying to control but Ribeiro is working from the bottom. Ribeiro is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Power defends well. Power in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Power trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Ribeiro looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Power has picked Ribeiro up and slammed him! Ribeiro can't keep hold of the triangle and Power manages to pass to side control! Power decides to take the fight back to the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Ribeiro will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ribeiro has closed the distance and engaged Power in a clinch.
Ribeiro gets a trip takedown into half guard. Power wants to get back to his feet.
Ribeiro seems to be working for a kimura but Power defends the submission attempt. Power works his way to full guard. Good work. Ribeiro drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Power dives on top into guard. Power trying to control but Ribeiro is working from the bottom. Ribeiro might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ribeiro looking to hit a scissor sweep but Power is one step ahead there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ribeiro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Power can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Power is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Ribeiro has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Power is looking to defend but Ribeiro has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Power! Ribeiro pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Power taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Ribeiro! An out of breath John Ribeiro thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
