Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Felipe Pontes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and So Hai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Pontes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, So Hai! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hai defending well as Pontes loads up on a big left hand. Pontes checks a low kick from Hai. Hai closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pontes did well to prevent Hai getting side control. Pontes tries to get to full guard but Hai has control of the leg. Pontes manages to escape and get back to his feet! Pontes blocks a leg kick. Pontes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pontes wants it to stay on the feet. A looping hook to the body misses from Pontes. Hai does a little dance to reset his feet. Hai staying out of range there. Pontes shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hai pinned against the cage. Hai gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Hai throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pontes tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hai is in Pontes's guard. Hai trying to control the position from guard on top but Pontes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hai content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pontes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hai. Hai in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Pontes controls Hai momentarily but Hai frees himself. Pontes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Pontes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pontes wants to get back to his feet but Hai is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Pontes controlling the position.
We're going to have a standup here because Felipe Pontes wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Pontes fails in his attempt to clinch. Hai scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Hai is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pontes has managed to free his arm - good work. Hai missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Hai has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hai trying to control from half guard but Pontes is working away. Hai not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Pontes is trying to stand back up but Hai is controlling him
Hai seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pontes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hai tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pontes knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Hai passes into side control, despite Pontes's attempt to control the position.
Pontes is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hai asserts his dominance and retains side control. Hai landing a few strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hai in side control, throwing shots but Pontes defends. Hai tries for a kimura but Pontes is defending well. You can see the frustration on Pontes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Hai remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Hai working away. Pontes tries to buck Hai off but Hai is having none of it. The ground and pound from Hai seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Pontes sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Hai not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Pontes wants to get back to his feet.
Hai throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pontes is trying to stand.
Hai controlling the pace. Hai working over Pontes with some ground and pound. Pontes looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hai connects with a nice short shot to Pontes's temple. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hai controlling the action here. Pontes is trying to stand up here but Hai is controlling him well. Pontes keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pontes is refusing to be controlled, as Hai sits in half guard. Pontes is in trouble now - Hai has advanced to mount! Pontes tries to reverse the position but Hai maintains control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
So Hai dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Hai pushes Pontes away with a front kick. Pontes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pontes wants it to stay on the feet. Pontes misses with a hook to the body
and Hai counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hai connects with a solid leg kick. Hai looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Hai thows a huge punch but Pontes dodges it nicely.
Pontes is trying to stand up here but Hai is controlling him well. Still in half guard, Hai seems content to control. Hai missing with the ground and pound from half guard. So Hai has got the better of the ground game so far. Hai throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Hai is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hai in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Pontes tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Hai!
