PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russell Shachar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gordan Danns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shachar comes to the cage accompanied by sandstorm. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Russell Shachar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danns throws a lazy head kick

and Shachar holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Shachar wants a takedown but no success here.
Danns doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Shachar blocks an elbow strike from Danns.

Shachar breaks from the clinch.
Danns tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shachar swats him away and circles back towards the center.
No luck for Shachar with that takedown attempt.
Danns moves out of range as Shachar throws a body kick.
Danns will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Shachar is trying hard to land a takedown here. Danns sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Shachar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Danns is fending him off so far but Shachar persists. Nope, Danns circles away and we're back to standing.
Shachar misses with a body kick.
Shachar shoots in for a takedown but Danns shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Shachar is breathing heavily.
Danns tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shachar paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Shachar walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Danns checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Danns rushes Shachar and presses him up against the cage.
Shachar wants to take the fight to the mat but Danns manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shachar is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Danns to keep the fight standing.
Danns controlling the action here for a moment.
Danns gets underhooks to prevent Shachar's takedown attempt.

Shachar blocks a body shot from Danns.

Shachar jumps guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Danns stays in close to Shachar's body and controls the position.
Danns trying to control but Shachar is working from the bottom.
Shachar tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Danns loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Shachar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Danns controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Gordan Danns was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Danns jumps guard but Shachar turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Danns lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shachar backs up against the cage.

Danns instigates a clinch.

Shachar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Shachar is trying hard to land a takedown here. Danns sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Danns with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Danns tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Danns throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shachar was covering up waiting for the punch and Danns finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Danns with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Danns postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Shachar keeping moving, preventing Danns from controlling successfully.

Danns postures up in Shachar's guard and throws a big left but Shachar blocks it.

Danns trying to control the position from guard on top but Shachar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Danns really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shachar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Shachar shoots in and bounces Danns off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Danns is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Danns is looking for a triangle but Shachar pushes his legs off easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Danns can do anything to dispel that myth.

Danns stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Danns wants it to stay on the feet.

Gordan Danns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Danns lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Shachar tries to clinch there but Danns circles away.
Shachar throws a sloppy head kick and Danns moves out of range easily.
Shachar shoots for a double leg takedown but Danns sprawls well. He's pushed Shachar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Danns misses with an attempted mid kick.
Shachar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Danns gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Danns lands with a light punch inside.
Shachar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Danns smiles and moves away.
Shachar shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Danns pinned against the cage. Danns gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well Danns has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
