Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Evgeny Grishin! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva misses with a low kick as Grishin jumps back. A head kick misses from Silva. Grishin on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Horrible takedown by Grishin or perhaps it was just good defense by Silva which made him look bad. A head kick misses from Silva. Grishin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Silva tries a head kick but it misses.
Silva moves into the clinch. Silva breaks from the clinch.
Grishin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Silva. Grishin keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Grishin blocks a head kick by Silva.
Silva connects with an inside leg kick. A slow jab from Grishin misses its intended target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grishin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Silva closes the distance looking to clinch and Grishin counters with a head kick. That will keep Silva thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Silva fails with an attempt to clinch.
Silva darts in trying to clinch and Grishin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Grishin wants to stand and escape but instead Silva has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Grishin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Grishin looks gassed! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Silva is looking to stand up but Grishin won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva trying to control the position from guard on top but Grishin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Silva decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Grishin, up you get! Jose Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grishin tries to clinch up. Silva feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Grishin's calf. Silva throws a body kick that misses. Silva lands a big head kick that sends Grishin tumbling to the mat! Silva takes a step backwards and waves Grishin back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Grishin is rocked!
It looks like Evgeny Grishin has been cut. Silva scores with a nice body kick.
Grishin is still on wobbly legs! Can Silva finish him? Silva feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Grishin collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!
