The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shorey fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Goncalves, pushing him back against the cage.
Goncalves tries to pull guard but Shorey forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Goncalves wants to break the clinch but can't.
Shorey stalls.

Goncalves manages to break the clinch.
Goncalves is looking to clinch but Shorey is avoiding it.

Shorey rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Goncalves moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Goncalves is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Shorey to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Shorey shrugs it off.
Goncalves takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Goncalves seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shorey for as long as he can get away with.
