Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Amir Khan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tohino Cerezo! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Khan lands with a shot to the body. Cerezo throws a hook to the side of Khan's head but Khan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nice shot by Khan. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cerezo is defended easily by Khan. Khan pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Cerezo cracks Khan with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Khan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Cerezo misses with a short punch on the inside. Khan struggles to land a body shot inside as Cerezo controls his hands.
Khan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Cerezo throws a hook but Khan avoids it easily. Cerezo takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Amir Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Khan feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cerezos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Cerezo blocks a head kick by Khan.
Cerezo moves out of range of the body kick. A right-left combo lands from Khan. Khan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cerezo.
Khan looks to land a combination but Cerezo avoids it well. Khan throws a series of punches but Cerezo moves out of range. Khan misses with a left hand and Cerezo counters with a two punch combo. Khan throws a head kick but Cerezo moves out of range.
Cerezo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Khan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Cerezo clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Cerezo takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Khan blocking some punches.
Cerezo lands a right hand that snaps the head of Khan backwards. Khan misses with a hook to the ribs.

Khan lands with a right hand. Cerezo scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Khan is looking to chop away at Cerezo's legs. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cerezo throws a combination that misses and Khan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Cerezo tries to clinch but fails miserably and Khan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A right-left combo lands from Cerezo. Cerezo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Khan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Cerezo passes easily into side control. Nice work. Cerezo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Khan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Cerezo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Khan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Cerezo working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Khan is trying to get back to half guard. Cerezo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Khan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cerezo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. You can see the frustration on Khan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Khan is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cerezo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Cerezo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Khan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cerezo but great work by Khan. Cerezo is looking for a sweep. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cerezo is trying to escape the position but Khan is controlling the position. This has been an exciting period of action! Cerezo wants to control but Khan postures up. Cerezo is looking to reverse the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Tohino Cerezo will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Khan lands with a hook. Cerezo tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Cerezo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Khan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cerezo. Cerezo misses with a series of wild punches.
Cerezo closes the distance and clinches up with Khan, looking for a takedown. Cerezo pushes Khan against the cage but Khan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cerezo loads up on a big right hand but Khan slips the punch. Khan lands with a nice body punch. Cerezo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Khan's hands. Amir Khan is winning the standup battle so far. Cerezo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Khan paws at him with a jab and circles away. Khan lands a jab. Khan misses with an uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Khan lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Khan throws a low kick but Cerezo avoids it. Khan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cerezo takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Cerezo takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Khan throws out a loose jab but Cerezo uses good head movement to avoid it. A nice leg kick lands there from Khan. A looping hook to the body misses from Cerezo. Khan does a little dance to reset his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Khan slips under a jab from Cerezo. Cerezo blocks a jab. Cerezo ducks right into an uppercut from Khan. Cerezo shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Cerezo fails in his attempt to clinch. Khan jabs Cerezo to the body, keeping him at a distance. Cerezo tries to clinch but Khan is having none of it. Khan slaps away a takedown attempt from Cerezo, before circling back to the center of the mat. Amir Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tohino Cerezo. Cerezo moves away from the strike by Khan. Amir Khan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Cerezo shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Khan swats away the attempt to clinch by Cerezo. A jab from Khan finds it's way through Cerezo's defenses. Cerezo misses with a straight right. Khan throws an off balance right hand
and Cerezo counters with a nice uppercut. Khan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cerezo moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Khan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Khan wants it to stay on the feet. Cerezo drops his hands momentarily and Khan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Cerezo stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Khan. Khan walks into a straight right hand from Cerezo. Khan swinging wildly here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Khan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Cerezo shoots for a takedown but Khan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A slow jab from Khan misses its intended target. Khan misses with a body shot.
Khan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cerezo sees it coming and avoids it easily. Khan takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Cerezo shoots in but Khan avoids the takedown attempt easily. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cerezo wants to clinch. Cerezo lands a nice shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Amir Khan dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

letting Cerezo counter with a right hand. Cerezo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Khan tries to avoid it but Cerezo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Khan to the ground. Khan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Khan pushes Cerezo up against the cage in a clinch. Khan is trying to maintain a safe position but Cerezo gets an underhook and turns Khan into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Khan as Cerezo tries to tie him up. Khan misses with a body punch.

Khan lands a body punch. Cerezo is trying to force a seperation but Khan has the dominant position. Cerezo misses with a hook from the clinch. Cerezo lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Khan backwards. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Cerezo misses with a punch to the body.
Cerezo gets control of Khan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cerezo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Cerezo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Khan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cerezo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cerezo manages to get to full guard.
Cerezo can't keep his opponent in guard - Khan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Cerezo is looking to get back to full guard here but Khan has managed to pass to side control instead. Khan has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cerezo checks a leg kick nicely. Cerezo is looking to clinch but Khan is avoiding it.
Tohino Cerezo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cerezo throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Khan to counter with a crisp jab. Khan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Khan jabs Cerezo right on the nose. Cerezo blinks but takes it well. Khan throws a jab when Cerezo was well out of range. Cerezo sizes up Khan with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Khan leaves Cerezo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Cerezo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Khan pinned against the cage. Khan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Amir Khan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tohino Cerezo.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Khan throws a leg kick which misses Cerezo's front leg but catches the back leg as Cerezo tries to avoid it. Cerezo shoots in looking for a takedown but Khan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cerezo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Khan lands a nice hook to Cerezo's body. Cerezo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Cerezo clobbers Khan with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Khan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cerezo. Cerezo falls off balance throwing a combination
and Khan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Amir Khan. I think Khan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
