PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Dimagiba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Dowal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Dowal will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Juan Dimagiba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Dowal!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dowal throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dimagiba stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Dowal connects with a high kick.
Dimagiba shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dowal defends it nicely.
Dimagiba dives in and grabs Dowal's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dowal pushes down on Dimagiba's head and hops out.
Dowal slaps away a takedown attempt from Dimagiba, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Dimagiba. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Dowal goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dimagiba has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Dowal but great work by Dimagiba.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dimagiba connects with a nice short shot to Dowal's temple.

Dimagiba on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dimagiba tries to get out of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dowal is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Juan Dimagiba.
I think Dowal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
