Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nathan Bowman! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, James Eastman! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paulsen Ambrosius and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bowman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Bowman moves into the clinch. Eastman tightens his grip and picks Bowman up, before dumping him to the ground. Bowman manages to land in guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Eastman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bowman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Eastman has managed to get both his arms back between Bowman's legs - danger averted. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Eastman trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Eastman stops Bowman from standing up. Bowman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Eastman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Eastman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bowman is keeping the position for now. Bowman looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bowman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eastman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bowman's guard. Bowman is looking to escape. Eastman keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Bowman wants to get back to his feet.
Bowman keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Bowman tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Eastman manages to move to mount!
Eastman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bowman is looking to escape. Bowman tries to buck Eastman off but he can't manage it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bowman keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Eastman content just to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bowman has given up his back. Will we see Eastman going for some submissions?
Bowman has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Bowman tries to roll but Eastman sticks to his back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A lull in the action here.
Bowman is trying to stand back up. Eastman trying to control. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bowman breaks Eastman's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Eastman is trying to keep Bowman in close.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by James Eastman. Bowman is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Eastman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. BOOM! Eastman connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Eastman fails to take his opponent's back. Eastman takes Bowman's back. Eastman is looking to control Bowman but Bowman is wriggling around and keeping busy. Eastman keeps control of the position as Bowman tries to break free.
Eastman has good solid back control here. Eastman is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bowman manages to reverse the position and now he's in Eastman's guard. Nice work there by Bowman.
Bowman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Bowman trying to control the position from guard on top but Eastman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bowman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eastman swivels though and keeps the full guard. Eastman is trying to control the position but Bowman postures up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Eastman preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Bowman looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Eastman dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Bowman wants to clinch. Bowman gets caught napping as Eastman dives in and scores a takedown. Bowman manages to retain guard. Eastman won't allow Bowman to get back to his feet. Eastman looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Bowman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Eastman defends it easily. Eastman wants to pass the guard but Bowman is keeping the position. Bowman keeping moving, preventing Eastman from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eastman is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by James Eastman. Bowman gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Bowman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Eastman passes Bowman's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Eastman content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. James Eastman has got the better of the ground game so far. Eastman works his way into full mount! Eastman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Eastman looking to control but Bowman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bowman is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Eastman trying to control but he's not successful this time. Bowman wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
This has been an exciting period of action! Eastman forces the positional change into back control. Eastman is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Bowman is tapping out! This one is all over!
