The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Murillo to the mat! Murillo manages to get full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Murillo keeping moving, preventing Schmidt from controlling successfully.
Schmidt stands and throws Murillo's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Schmidt tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Schmidt wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Murillo, who protects the arm well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Schmidt is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Murillo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Schmidt is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Murillo is trying to escape and Schmidt transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Murillo is forced to tap! Nice work there by Schmidt! Very nice indeed!

A very excited looking Josh Schmidt rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
