Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jerry McQueen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nikita Djigurda!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McQueen looks for the body kick but Djigurda saw that one coming.
McQueen drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
McQueen has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
McQueen lands a head shot.
Djigurda stuffs the takedown attempt from McQueen. McQueen gets slowly back to his feet.
McQueen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McQueen fails with the takedown
and Djigurda counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
McQueen working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Djigurda has passed into half guard!
Djigurda is trying to control. McQueen wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Djigurda working McQueen over with strikes.
Djigurda lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Djigurda really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McQueen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McQueen is breathing heavily.
Djigurda is working for a kimura but McQueen is defending it quite comfortably.
Djigurda thows a huge punch but McQueen dodges it nicely.
Djigurda slips a nice elbow through McQueen's hands, connecting with McQueen's forehead.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Djigurda working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McQueen taking some punishment here, with Djigurda in his half guard.
McQueen wants to improve his position but Djigurda is controlling well.
McQueen is looking to escape.
Djigurda scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Djigurda is looking to stall here but McQueen recovers full guard.
McQueen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Djigurda is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
McQueen is rocked!
Djigurda loads up on a big left hand. McQueen felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Djigurda looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! McQueen can't hide his disappointment, as Djigurda celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nikita Djigurda!
