PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Vaughn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vaughn comes into the arena with The Godfather blaring out of the sound system. Harry Callahan will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Vaughn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Harry Callahan!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vaughn lands with a nice body kick.
Vaughn pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Callahan avoids the head kick by Vaughn.
Callahan slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Harry Callahan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Callahan connects with a body shot that sends Vaughn's belly button to the back.
Vaughn avoids the body shot from Callahan.
Vaughn lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Callahan circles away quickly and effectively.
Vaughn uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Callahan.
Vaughn throws a lazy right hand but Callahan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Vaughn cracks the inside of Callahan's front leg.
Vaughn bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Callahan misses with a hook. Vaughn ducked under it nicely.
Vaughn looks to score with a jab to the body but Callahan is just out of range.

A nice inside leg kick there by Vaughn. That's going to slow Callahan down.
Callahan lands a nice looking body shot.

Vaughn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Callahan lands a nice looking body shot.
Vaughn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Callahan misses with a wild body shot.

Vaughn scores with a nice right hand.
Callahan takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Callahan misses the shot to the body.
Vaughn throws a head kick that Callahan semi-blocks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Callahan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Danga de danga de dang - Vaughn scores with a four punch combination!

Vaughn scores with a hook to the body. Callahan takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Vaughn keeps Callahan at a distance using the push kick.
Callahan looks gassed!
Callahan misses with a straight right.
Callahan misses the shot to the body.
Vaughn lands a nice shot that snaps Callahan's head back.
Callahan misses with a body shot
and Vaughn makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Callahan's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Vaughn connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Callahan scrambles back to his feet.
Callahan pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Vaughn looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Vaughn lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Vaughn scores with a kick to the body.
Vaughn lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Callahan takes a head kick and keeps coming.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Callahan takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Nice body kick there by Vaughn.
Callahan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Vaughn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Callahan manages to avoid it.
Vaughn moves out of range of the strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vaughn punishes Callahan's body with a nice straight punch.
Vaughn lands with a thumping leg kick.

Vaughn connects with a nice looking jab.
Callahan walks into a left hand.
Vaughn scores with a hook to the body. Callahan takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Callahan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Vaughn thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Callahan if he has to take too many more of those.
Vaughn connects with a leg kick. Callahan looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Vaughn plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Vaughn is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Some wild striking there from Vaughn.
Vaughn looks to score with a jab to the body but Callahan is just out of range.
Callahan misses the jab.
Callahan listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Vaughn avoids the body shot from Callahan.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Vaughn tries a head kick but it misses.
Callahan misses with a hook. Vaughn ducked under it nicely.
Vaughn scores with a jab. Callahan acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Vaughn dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Vaughn lands with a thumping leg kick.
Vaughn fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Vaughn, right into the meat.
A nice inside leg kick there by Vaughn. That's going to slow Callahan down.
Vaughn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Callahan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Vaughn scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vaughn lands a right hook to the body.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Callahan might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Vaughn has got the better of the exchanges.
Vaughn cracks Callahan with a right hand to the side of the head.
Callahan looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.


Callahan is rocked!
Callahan looks to score with a jab to the body but Vaughn is just out of range.
Vaughn throws a series of punches but Callahan moves out of range.
Callahan is breathing heavily.
Vaughn fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Callahan on the side of the head.
Callahan is still on wobbly legs! Can Vaughn finish him?
Vaughn is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Callahan can do to turn this around?
Vaughn dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Callahan seems to have recovered his senses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Vaughn lands a big head kick that sends Callahan tumbling to the mat! Vaughn takes a step backwards and waves Callahan back to his feet - he wants the finish!
and Vaughn counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Callahan! He's just covering up as Vaughn starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Vaughn!
During a confident post fight interview, James Vaughn thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
