Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Devon Cassino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don Soya! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cassino gets caught flat footed, as Soya shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Cassino working a defensive guard here.
Soya controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Soya tries to free his leg and advance position but Cassino is retaining full guard. Soya is stalling in the full guard.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Don Soya wasn't active enough on the ground. Soya shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soya controlling the pace. Soya looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Soya is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Soya works his foot free and advances to mount. Soya cracks Cassino with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Soya lands a big shot there that rocks Cassino but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Soya fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Cassino is rocked! Soya content just to control the position here. Oh Cassino is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Soya throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Cassino has his hands clasped together but Soya breaks the hold and Cassino is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Soya!
