Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Geter Done (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Lerna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Done is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Geter Done could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Randy Lerna's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randy Lerna!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lerna throws a right and a left that both miss.
Randy Lerna seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Done is breathing heavily.
Lerna throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lerna tries to land a front kick but Done steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Lerna fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Done, pushing him back against the cage.
Lerna goes for a takedown attempt but Done pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Lerna tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lerna pushes Done up against the cage in a clinch.
Lerna makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Lerna jumps guard.
Lerna controlling Done's posture.

Done throwing strikes but missing.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lerna can do anything to dispel that myth.
Lerna wants to sweep but no luck.
Lerna seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Randy Lerna.
Lerna fails with an attempt to clinch.

Lerna darts in and clinches Done up against the cage.
Lerna wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Lerna has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Done is trying to keep an underhook but Lerna manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Well, if Lerna is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Randy Lerna has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Lerna pushes Done up against the cage in a clinch.
Lerna is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Lerna escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Lerna decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Lerna closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Done did well to prevent Lerna getting side control.

Lerna is looking to advance position but Done won't allow it.
Lerna slows the pace down in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Randy Lerna wasn't active enough on the ground.

Lerna darts in and clinches Done up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Lerna dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lerna tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lerna takes the fight into the clinch.

Lerna wants the takedown. Done is fighting it off but Lerna persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Done's guard against the cage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lerna accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lerna is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Randy Lerna was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Lerna looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lerna seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Lerna escapes and gets back to his feet.
No luck for Lerna with that takedown attempt.

Lerna moves into the clinch successfully.

Lerna breaks from the clinch.

Lerna clinches up against the cage.
Lerna looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Lerna has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Done uses from the top position.
Randy Lerna has got the better of the ground game so far.

Lerna is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lerna has Done pulled in close to control his posture.

Done prevents Lerna from getting back to his feet.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Lerna is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Done to keep the fight standing.
Done has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lerna avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Geter Done. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lerna is looking to break free of the clinch but Done has double underhooks.
Lerna wants to get back to striking at distance but Done won't allow it.
Done looking to stall.
Lerna wants to take the fight to the mat but Done manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lerna breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Lerna showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Done dives in and scores a takedown into Lerna's guard.
Lerna has Done pulled in close to control his posture.
Lerna throws a couple of heel strikes.

Done drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lerna manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Done has Lerna in his guard.
Lerna is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lerna sitting in guard here, content to control.

Done has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lerna is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Done.

Geter Done has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lerna has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Done!

Lerna lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

A nice elbow there by Lerna.
Lerna looking to control and managing it successfully.
Let's hope that Lerna has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Randy Lerna comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lerna has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
