PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Air Canada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane MacLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacLain is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Drowning Pool - Bodies (Let The Bodies Hit The Floor. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Air Canada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane MacLain!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacLain swings for the body but Canada moves out of range.

MacLain has managed to clinch.
Canada is trying to force a seperation but MacLain has the dominant position.
MacLain on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Canada is trying to break free.
MacLain displaying some good clinch control by pressing Canada up against the cage.

MacLain breaks the clinch.
MacLain misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Canada stuffs the takedown attempt from MacLain. MacLain gets slowly back to his feet.
MacLain tries to clinch but Canada moves out of range.
MacLain shoots in for a takedown but Canada shows good takedown defense.
Air Canada has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane MacLain.
A punch combination from Canada misses.

and Canada counters with a stiff right hand.
MacLain shoots in for a takedown but Canada shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Canada counters with a nice uppercut.

No luck for MacLain with that takedown attempt.
Canada thuds his right hand into MacLain's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
MacLain gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Canada.
Canada will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
MacLain tries for a takedown but Canada circles away easily
and Canada counters with a straight right hand.

MacLain wants to stand but Canada has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Canada is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Canada escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. MacLain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Canada trying to keep a closed guard but MacLain is proving a slippery customer.
MacLain is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Canada uses the cage to get back to his feet.
MacLain shoots and misses
and Canada counters with a stiff right hand.

MacLain drives through with a takedown into Canada's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
MacLain throws an elbow that misses. Canada uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in MacLain's guard. Nice move by Canada!

MacLain looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Canada is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

MacLain is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Canada defends well.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Canada avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Canada tries to free his leg and advance position but MacLain is retaining full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Canada wants to control from the top but MacLain keeps moving.

MacLain manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Canada scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
MacLain has a takedown stuffed.
MacLain shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Canada defends it nicely.
MacLain fails to land the takedown.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nice uppercut lands for Canada. That snapped MacLain's head back.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Canada throws out a powerful jab.
MacLain tries to move into range but Canada moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Air Canada is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Canada lands a nice looking body shot.

MacLain is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Canada's half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Air Canada dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A head kick misses from MacLain.
Canada slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Air Canada is winning the standup battle so far.
MacLain fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Canada avoids it really well and circles away.
MacLain ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Canada moves away.
MacLain avoids the body shot from Canada.
Canada lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Canada feints with a jab and clips MacLain right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! MacLain is sent crashing into the canvas and Canada leaps in for the kill! MacLain tries to get to his feet but Canada is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that MacLain is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Air Canada!
