PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Before I Forget by Slipknot. Swanson has chosen all nightmare long by metallica as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brian Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karl Swanson! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Swanson looks for a takedown but Jones sprawls well. Swanson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Swanson off to one side. Swanson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Jones looks to throw the jab but Swanson is out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones misses the shot to the body. Karl Swanson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Swanson staying out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Swanson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Jones avoids a series of strikes thrown by Swanson.
Swanson has hold of Jones's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jones manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Swanson misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The referee warns Jones that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Swanson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape. Jones avoids a series of strikes thrown by Swanson.
Swanson scores with a couple of good head shots there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jones regains half guard. Swanson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Swanson eventually gives up the hold. Swanson is looking to pass Jones's guard but actually Jones recovers to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones kicks Swanson off and gets to his feet. Swanson connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Jones to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Swanson!
