PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Kytke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xavier Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hans Kytke!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott fails with the takedown
and Kytke counters with a stiff right hand.

Kytke clinches.
Kytke taking a breather.

Kytke has Scott pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kytke pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Scott tumbling to the mat - Kytke dives into Scott's guard.
Scott tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kytke closes the distance looking to clinch

and Scott counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Scott passes into half guard.
Scott sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Scott throwing shots but Kytke is blocking nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kytke tries to get to full guard but Scott has control of the leg.
Scott wants to take a breather but Kytke is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scott stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Scott misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Scott shoots in and bounces Kytke off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Scott stands up from Kytke's guard - Scott perhaps looking for a knockout.

Scott looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Scott tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kytke knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Scott is keen to just control but Kytke is a slippery customer.
Scott slips a nice elbow through Kytke's hands, connecting with Kytke's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kytke does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Scott is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Scott working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Scott seems to be looking for submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Scott with the ground and pound but Kytke uses the opportunity to regain guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kytke can do anything to dispel that myth.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Scott not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott shoots for a double leg takedown but Kytke sprawls well. He's pushed Scott's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kytke uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scott.
Scott circles away from the clinch attempt.
Scott fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kytke is looking to clinch but Scott is avoiding it.

Scott tries to keep at a distance but Kytke has taken the fight into the clinch.
Scott goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kytke prevents it.
Kytke drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Scott gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Kytke turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kytke manages to end up in side control.

Scott looking for a sweep but Kytke has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Xavier Scott overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Scott is wriggling around trying to escape.
Kytke looking to control but Scott is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Scott wants to hold on but Kytke pushes him away.

Kytke can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Scott is looking to escape.
Kytke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Scott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Scott tries to reverse the position but Kytke maintains control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Scott bucks Kytke off and manages to get back to his feet!

Scott shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kytke but Kytke pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xavier Scott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Scott throws a jab when Kytke was well out of range.

Kytke gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Kytke is looking for a takedown.
Scott stops a takedown attempt from Kytke.
Kytke has Scott pressed against the cage.
Kytke is breathing heavily.

Scott has hold of one of Kytke's legs. Kytke is fighting the takedown attempt but Scott gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Scott gets to his feet. Kytke looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

That was a close second round but I would say that Xavier Scott will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Scott seems to be working for a kimura but Kytke defends the submission attempt.

Scott decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Scott shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kytke as he avoids it easily.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Scott is defended easily by Kytke.

Kytke closes the distance and pushes Scott back into the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Kytke is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Kytke tightens his grip and picks Scott up, before dumping him to the ground. Scott manages to land in guard.

Scott is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

We're going to have a standup here because Xavier Scott wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Kytke closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kytke takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kytke prevents Scott from improving his position.
Kytke is thwarting Scott's attempts to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Xavier Scott wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Scott slaps away a takedown attempt from Kytke, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Scott looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kytke is fending him off so far but Scott persists. Nope, Kytke circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xavier Scott. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Scott shoots in and bounces Kytke off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Scott stands up and waves to Kytke to follow him.

Scott tries for a takedown but Kytke sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Scott changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kytke fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Scott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kytke defends it nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Xavier Scott showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Scott, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
