Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chad Griggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chad Griggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick James!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Griggs keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

James grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Griggs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for James on the ground.
Griggs doesn't have the hooks in and James manages to turn into his guard.

James drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and James jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Griggs swivels though and keeps the full guard.

James thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close round but Nick James will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

James tries to close the distance and clinch up but Griggs swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Griggs changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Griggs manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Griggs is trying hard to land a takedown here. James sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and James makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

James shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Griggs is trying to defend but James finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

James thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chad Griggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
