PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thor Ironjaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Conners (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Brian Conners was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Conners with that takedown attempt.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brian Conners hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

It looks like Conners might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The referee is keeping an eye on Ironjaw - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Thor Ironjaw.
Ironjaw throws a body punch but Conners moves out of range.
Ironjaw defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Conners.
Thor Ironjaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Conners.

Conners bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Ironjaw is working to avoid the ground and pound but Conners connects with a decent elbow.

Ironjaw pushes off an throws an elbow but Conners leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

A head punch on the inside from Ironjaw fails to land.
Ironjaw is looking to control Conners's arms but Conners gets an underhook and turns him. Now Ironjaw has his back to the cage.
Conners has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ironjaw is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Ironjaw is pressed up against the cage. Conners has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ironjaw down to the mat. Ironjaw avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Ironjaw pushes Conners back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Ironjaw's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Brian Conners is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
