PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Snooker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larson Merkuao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sam Snooker is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sam Snooker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Larson Merkuao!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merkuao stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Merkuao wants it to stay on the feet.
Merkuao fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Snooker avoids it really well and circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Snooker.
Merkuao changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Snooker tries to avoid it but Merkuao manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Snooker to the ground. Snooker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Snooker closes the distance and clinches up with Merkuao, looking for a takedown. Snooker pushes Merkuao against the cage but Merkuao circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Snooker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Snooker takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Snooker looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Merkuao with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Snooker is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Merkuao to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

Snooker is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Merkuao is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Merkuao has escaped and now he's on top!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Snooker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Merkuao's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Merkuao tries to free his leg and advance position but Snooker is retaining full guard.

Snooker has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Snooker is looking to stand up but Merkuao isn't so interested in that idea.
Merkuao throws an elbow that misses. Snooker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Merkuao's guard. Nice move by Snooker!
Snooker wants to get up but he can't break Merkuao's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Larson Merkuao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Merkuao gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Snooker to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Snooker drops back looking for a leg! Merkuao is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Merkuao manages to kick Snooker off! Snooker jumps back into Merkuao's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Merkuao takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Snooker looking to sit in guard and control but Merkuao gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Snooker misses with a takedown attempt - Merkuao sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Snooker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Merkuao sprawls well. Merkuao wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Snooker gets slowly back to his feet.

I would just about give that final round to Larson Merkuao.
I think Merkuao has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
