Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mikio Okita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Boombatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bobby Boombatz will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mikio Okita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Boombatz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boombatz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Boombatz throws a right hand that Okita ducks under and follows up with a left that Okita also avoids with ease.

Okita shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Okita showed some decent athleticism there.
Okita wants to pass to mount but Boombatz is defending the position.
Boombatz wants to improve his position but Okita is controlling well.
Boombatz tries to kick Okita off but Okita keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Okita wants to work for an arm triangle but Boombatz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Okita slows the pace down in half guard.

Okita is looking for a kimura here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Okita is taking a breather. Boombatz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Okita's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Okita has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Okita wants to finish this one by submission but Boombatz is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Okita.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Boombatz cracks Okita with an uppercut from hell and Okita crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Boombatz's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

Okita has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boombatz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Okita is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Boombatz wants to stand but Okita is controlling his posture from full guard.

Okita looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Okita avoids a punch combination nicely.
Boombatz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Okita counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Okita.
Okita stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boombatz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Boombatz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Okita not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Okita seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boombatz for as long as he can get away with.

and Okita counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Okita drops back looking for a leg! Boombatz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Boombatz manages to kick Okita off! Okita jumps back into Boombatz's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Boombatz doesn't manage to clinch there - Okita circles away.

Okita closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Boombatz wants to clinch.
Boombatz throws a lazy right hand but Okita sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Okita is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Boombatz has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Boombatz!
Okita seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Okita bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Boombatz's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Okita seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Okita misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Okita swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Boombatz is now in Okita's guard. A big mistake from Okita there, giving up the dominant position!

Boombatz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Okita, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
