Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricardo Fitzgerald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Buffalo Ushijima!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ushijima has his takedown stuffed
and Fitzgerald counters with a shoot takedown. Ushijima fights it but they end up in guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Fitzgerald postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Fitzgerald throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ushijima works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Fitzgerald content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Fitzgerald is pushing down on Ushijima's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ushijima is fighting to maintain full guard but Fitzgerald has managed to sneak the leg through.
Ushijima strikes from the bottom but Fitzgerald passes into mount!
Ushijima keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fitzgerald lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Ushijima is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Fitzgerald in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
It looks like Buffalo Ushijima has been cut.

Fitzgerald lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Fitzgerald has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A big strike lands for Fitzgerald! That's really hurt Ushijima and he's turned his back - Fitzgerald keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Fitzgerald jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ricardo Fitzgerald!
