PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jack Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mc Fly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mc Fly struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 137.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mc Fly!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller falls off balance throwing a combination
and Fly counters with a right hand to the body.
A punch combination from Miller misses.

Miller moves into the clinch.

Miller escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Miller doesn't succeed with the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Miller shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fly napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fly is not content to let Miller control the position.

Miller stands up.

Fly moves into the clinch successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fly leaning his opponent against the cage.
Fly tries for a takedown. No joy.
Fly prevents the takedown attempt.

Fly breaks from the clinch.

Fly bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fly sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Miller is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The ground and pound from Fly seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Fly trying to control the position but Miller is working away.
Miller stops Fly from passing to mount.
Miller tries to bench press Fly off him but Fly keeps the position.
Miller is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Fly wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miller keeps working.
Miller controls the position for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fly is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Miller is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Miller tries to bench press Fly off him but Fly keeps the position.
Who's going to make the next move?

Fly wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Miller, who protects the arm well.

You can see the frustration on Miller's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Miller regains half guard.
Miller regains full guard. Nicely done.
Miller controlling Fly's posture.
Miller's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Miller is trying to control the position but Fly postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jack Miller will probably get the nod.

Miller stuffs the takedown attempt from Fly. Fly gets slowly back to his feet.

Miller clinches.

Fly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Miller misses with a takedown attempt - Fly sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Fly scores with a one two! Miller had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Miller shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fly as he jumps to the side.

Fly scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Miller tries to get to full guard but Fly has control of the leg.
Miller is trying to maintain the position but Fly is very close to passing his half guard.

Miller wants to get back to full guard.
Fly wants to control but Miller is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nice sprawl there from Miller as Fly shoots in.
Fly is breathing heavily.
No luck for Miller with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fly stuffs the takedown.
Miller throws a right and a left that Fly avoids nicely.
Miller shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fly sprawls well. Fly wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Miller gets slowly back to his feet.

Fly takes the fight into the clinch.

Fly pulls guard successfully.
Fly punching from the bottom - just letting Miller know he's still in a fight.
Miller engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Fly has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Miller can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fly scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Miller ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fly moves away.
Fly stuffs the takedown.
Jack Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fly fails with a takedown attempt.
Miller cracks a nice hook into Fly's ribs.
Fly tries to score a power double leg takedown but Miller sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fly somewhat.
Miller moves in looking to clinch but Fly pushes him off.
A bone on bone clash there as Fly blocks the leg kick.
Miller closes the distance but Fly moves to the side

and Fly decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Miller's guard.

Miller is trying to keep Fly in close.
Fly wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving.
Miller trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Miller tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fly throws a big elbow that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mc Fly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Miller moves in looking to clinch but Fly pushes him off.
Fly stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fly wants it to stay on the feet.

Fly closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Miller to the mat! Miller manages to get full guard.
Miller utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Miller is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Miller escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fly gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Fly wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving.
Miller is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fly trying to control but Miller is working from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Miller tries to score with a low kick but Fly moves his leg out of the way.
Miller dives in and grabs Fly's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fly pushes down on Miller's head and hops out.

Fly shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Miller is staying active underneath Fly, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Fly is nestled in close to Miller, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Fly wants to pass to mount but Miller is defending the position.
Miller is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Miller is pressing down on Fly's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fly slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Fly working away.
Miller is looking for a sweep.
Mc Fly has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fly grinds an elbow into Miller's temple.
Miller can't do much from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miller is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fly is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Fly taking a breather here.
Miller is not content to let Fly control the position.
Miller gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Miller is trying to maintain the position but Fly is very close to passing his half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mc Fly.
Well Fly has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
