Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Valodia Smirnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thi Pak Thom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Valodia Smirnov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thi Pak Thom! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thom moves into the clinch. Smirnov tries for a takedown. No joy.
Smirnov drops down looking for an ankle pick but Thom pulls his leg out and moves away.
Smirnov clinches up with Thom and pushes him back against the cage. Come on Smirnov - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Thom landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Smirnov is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Thom gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Valodia Smirnov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smirnov takes an elbow to the forehead. A nice glancing elbow lands by Thom. Thom throws a knee to the head but misses.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Thom with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Smirnov is trying to pull guard but Thom turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Smirnov is breathing heavily. Smirnov is stalling here.

Nice elbow from Thom. Thom crunches a lovely knee into Smirnov's ribcage. Thom tries to land a knee to the head but Smirnov blocks with his arms.

Thom throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smirnov blocks it with crossed arms. Thom creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Smirnov gets a trip takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Smirnov throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Thom to regain full guard. Smirnov postures up in Thom's guard and throws a big left but Thom blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thom wants to stand but Smirnov is controlling the position. Smirnov's corner is telling him to maintain position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smirnov's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Valodia Smirnov wasn't doing enough on the ground. Smirnov closes the distance and clinches. Thom prevents the takedown attempt.
Thom connects with a knee to the head.
Thom misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Smirnov.
Smirnov decides to pull guard. Smirnov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smirnov tries to get out of the position. Smirnov has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Thi Pak Thom was stalling too much, according to the referee. Thom clinches with his opponent.
Thom lands an elbow inside. Smirnov works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Smirnov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Smirnov trying to control the position from guard on top but Thom is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thi Pak Thom dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Thom moves into the clinch successfully.
Thom tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Thom lands a damaging elbow. Smirnov is trying to drag Thom to the mat but Thom just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Thom missing with knees to the body.
Smirnov is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Thom gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Smirnov has hold of one of Thom's legs. Thom is fighting the takedown attempt but Smirnov gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Thom avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Smirnov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Smirnov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

We're going to have a standup here because Valodia Smirnov wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Thom takes the fight into the clinch.

Thom throws a knee to the head but misses.
Smirnov pulls guard successfully.
Smirnov striking off his back but it's not causing Thom any problems. Smirnov wants to sweep here but Thom controlling him for the moment. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Smirnov pulls Thom in close to his closed guard and prevents Thom from doing any damage or advancing position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Thi Pak Thom hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Smirnov instigates a clinch. Thom with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Smirnov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thom's guard. Smirnov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Valodia Smirnov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Valodia Smirnov has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Thom moves into the clinch successfully.
Smirnov is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Thom is defending well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Thom is fighting off a takedown attempt but Smirnov is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Thom to the mat. Thom regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smirnov trying to control the position from guard on top but Thom is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Thom tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Valodia Smirnov dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Smirnov manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Thom on his heels. He'll look to pass Thom's guard now, I'm sure. Smirnov passes into half guard. Smirnov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Smirnov missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Thom wants to get back to his feet.
Smirnov is controlling the pace.
Thom takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Smirnov seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Thom for as long as he can get away with.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smirnov winds up and cracks Thom with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Smirnov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Valodia Smirnov. Smirnov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Thom! Thom is trying desperately to improve position. Smirnov breaks from Thom's wrist control and lands an elbow. Smirnov lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smirnov lands a big elbow. Smirnov scoring with strikes but Thom is staying in there. Smirnov controlling the pace for now. Smirnov postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Thom looks a forlorn figure.
BOOM! Smirnov connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smirnov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Smirnov is landing with some decent strikes but Thom is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Smirnov controlling his opponent. Smirnov connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Thi Pak Thom has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smirnov scores with a couple of good head shots there.
And that's the end of the fight! Valodia Smirnov showed his dominance in that final round. I think Smirnov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
