Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dominick Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick Lachance!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cruz shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lachance manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Lachance is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Lachance looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Cruz has picked Lachance up and slammed him! Lachance can't keep hold of the triangle and Cruz manages to pass to side control!
Lachance tries to buck Cruz off but Cruz is having none of it.
Cruz tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Lachance looks to move to half guard but instead Cruz has passed into mount! Damn!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lachance tries to hold on but Cruz postures up.

Lachance is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lachance tries to lock up and control but Cruz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lachance is working to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cruz working for a guillotine from mount but Lachance is in no mood to give up.
Lachance really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Lachance wants to hold on but Cruz pushes him away.
Lachance is looking to improve his position but Cruz isn't that keen on the idea.
Lachance is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Cruz looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Lachance sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Lachance manages to get to full guard.

Lachance is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Lachance has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Cruz has passed into side control.
Lachance is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Lachance dominated that round.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lachance.
Cruz is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Lachance looking to control but instead Cruz has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Lachance looks to land a strike but Cruz avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Lachance throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cruz works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cruz looking for a sweep. Not yet Cruz, not yet.
Nick Lachance has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lachance looking to sit in guard and control but Cruz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Lachance working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cruz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cruz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lachance is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lachance is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Lachance pulls Cruz in close to his closed guard and prevents Cruz from doing any damage or advancing position.
Lachance is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cruz regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Lachance.
Lachance trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Cruz manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lachance is on top in guard.
Lachance is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Lachance throws a big elbow that misses.
Cruz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Lachance throws a sloppy strike and Cruz has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Lachance is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Cruz!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Dominick Cruz!
A relieved looking Dominick Cruz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
