Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Glen Nelson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam Hodgins! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hodgins tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Nelson is in Hodgins's guard. Nelson trying to control the position from guard on top but Hodgins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hodgins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nelson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Nelson wants to control from the top but Hodgins keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nelson works a leg free and moves into half guard. Hodgins wants to control but Nelson is keeping busy.
Nelson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hodgins has managed to free his arm - good work. Nelson is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Hodgins as he works his way to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hodgins is looking for a triangle but Nelson pushes his legs off easily.

Nelson is working Hodgins over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Nelson slips nicely into half guard. Hodgins is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hodgins tries to roll over but Nelson keeps him under control. Hodgins looking for submissions off his back. Nelson is controlling the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hodgins is refusing to be controlled, as Nelson sits in half guard. Nelson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Hodgins slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Nelson wants to control from the top but Hodgins keeps moving. Hodgins trying to keep a closed guard but Nelson is proving a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hodgins has momentary wrist control but Nelson slips an elbow through the middle. Nelson throwing strikes from guard but Hodgins blocks nicely. Nelson looking to pass the guard. Hodgins trying to control the position.
Hodgins tries to land a sweep but no joy. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nelson trying to control but Hodgins is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Glen Nelson dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Hodgins looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Nelson! Hodgins is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Nelson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Nelson shrugs it off. Nelson wants to control but Hodgins is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hodgins lands with some strikes. Nelson can't escape the position.

Nelson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The referee warns Nelson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hodgins quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Hodgins but it's paid off an Nelson is forced to tap! Nice work by Hodgins.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Adam Hodgins! After the fight, Adam Hodgins was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
