Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Colin Esteves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Colin Esteves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Bear!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bear circles away from the clinch attempt.
Esteves tries to clinch up but Bear circles away and keeps his distance.

Esteves decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Esteves thows a huge punch but Bear dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Esteves looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bear with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Esteves seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Esteves has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Esteves is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Bear wants to get back to his feet.
Esteves keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Esteves is looking for a kimura but Bear is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Esteves to get the leverage.
Bear looks gassed!
Esteves sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Esteves passes the guard and advances to mount!
Esteves takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Esteves lands a big elbow.
Esteves sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Esteves scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Esteves stands up from mount. Strange move.
Bear swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Esteves is looking to clinch but Bear is avoiding it.
Esteves tries to clinch but Bear moves out of range.
Bear circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bear avoids a punch combination nicely.
Colin Esteves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bear keeps the fight on the outside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Esteves wants to clinch up but Bear keeps it at a distance.

Esteves fails to land the takedown.
John Bear is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bear swats away the attempt to clinch by Esteves.
Bear throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Esteves shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Esteves not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bear really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Esteves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bear is breathing heavily.

Esteves is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Esteves trying to control the position from guard on top but Bear is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Esteves passes Bear's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Esteves sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Esteves is trying to control the action in half guard but Bear is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bear is defending against the submission attempts here by Esteves.

Esteves decides to return to a standing position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Esteves checks the leg kick nicely there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Colin Esteves dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Esteves is looking to clinch.
Left hook, right uppercut from Esteves.
Bear avoids the body shot from Esteves.
Esteves moves in looking to clinch but Bear pushes him off.
Esteves fails in his attempt to clinch.
Esteves throws a series of punches but Bear moves out of range.
Bear takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Esteves doesn't manage to clinch there - Bear circles away.
No luck for Esteves with that takedown attempt.
Esteves shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bear pinned against the cage. Bear gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Bear, right into the meat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Esteves scores with a takedown into Bear's guard.
Esteves passes Bear's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Esteves content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Esteves takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Esteves trying to control from half guard but Bear is working away.
Esteves sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Esteves passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

You get the feeling that Bear really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Well Esteves has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
