Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Katsu Lion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garcia's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Headlines. Katsu Lion is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Katsu Lion!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia misses with an uppercut. Lion saw that one coming.

Garcia drops Lion with a beautiful combination! Lion stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Garcia is looking for the KO!


It looks like Katsu Lion has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Lion counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Garcia!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Garcia is in all sorts of trouble here.

Lion seems to be working for a kimura but Garcia defends the submission attempt.
Lion working over Garcia with some ground and pound. Garcia looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Garcia tries to roll over but Lion keeps him under control.
Garcia has hold of Lion's hands but Lion slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Garcia is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lion is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lion drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lion jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lion drops back, looking for a kneebar! Garcia looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Garcia looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Garcia!

Garcia is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lion knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Garcia tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Garcia has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Garcia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lion keeps working.

Garcia tries to advance to mount but can't.
Garcia tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Garcia goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Lion has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Garcia but great work by Lion.

Garcia might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Lion is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Garcia defends it well.

Lion is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Garcia regains full guard. Nicely done.
Garcia bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lion's guard.

Garcia has gone for a leg lock! Lion slips out almost immediately though and dives into Garcia's guard.
Lion won't allow Garcia to sweep him here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Garcia has his foot on Lion's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lion works his way back into a safe position though.

Lion thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Lion looks for a takedown but Garcia sprawls well.
Garcia throws a left and a right that both miss

and Lion decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Garcia's guard.
Lion connects with a couple of short punches.
Lion wants to control from the top but Garcia keeps moving.

Garcia trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Lion lands a couple of elbows.
Garcia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Garcia has hold of Lion's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Lion seems comfortable defending it but Garcia has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Lion is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Lion is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Garcia couldn't care less - he's delighted!
