PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Lachance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mack has chosen Ships in the night-Mat Kearney as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Lachance!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Mack!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lachance rushes Mack and presses him up against the cage.
Mack wants to break free but Lachance has control.
Lachance drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mack pulls his leg out and moves away.

Lachance changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mack looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mack is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Mack wants to get back to his feet but Lachance is dominant here and he's now got Mack's back!

Lachance working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Lachance keeps control of the position easily here as Mack tries to buck him off.

Mack is trying to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lachance biding his time, controlling Mack.
Mack is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

What can Mack do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Mack covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Mack takes a big shot to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mack manages to escape to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lachance.
Lachance looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Lachance. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lachance moves out of range of the body kick from Mack.

Mack bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Mack misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lachance changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mack tries to avoid it but Lachance manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mack to the ground. Mack escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Lachance decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mack's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Lachance dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lachance dodges the punch combination from Mack.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Mack swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Lachance counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mack!
Lachance takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mack is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Lachance can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mack is looking to escape.
Mack's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Lachance takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Lachance lands a heavy elbow.
You get the feeling that Mack really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Lachance controlling the position easily from mount.
Lachance looking to control but Mack is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lachance landing strikes from the mount and Mack is in trouble!
John Lachance overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
You get the feeling that Mack really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lachance has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mack's face.
Mack squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Lachance stands up from mount. Strange move.
Mack throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lachance.
Mack scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Lachance looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mack is fending him off so far but Lachance persists. Nope, Mack circles away and we're back to standing.
Jack Mack is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lachance shoots in but Mack avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Mack counters with a three punch combo that has Lachance backing up. Lachance nods at Mack to acknowledge the strikes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Lachance. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lachance shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice body kick from Mack.

Mack will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mack tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Lachance is able to avoid easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Lachance dominated that second round.
That's time! Lachance's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Mack lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lachance backs up against the cage.

and Mack counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Mack counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Lachance shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Mack tries to bum rush Lachance with a series of wild strikes but Lachance uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Mack changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Lachance avoids the head kick by Mack.

Mack throws a sloppy head kick and Lachance moves out of range easily.

Mack is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Lachance stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mack swivels though and keeps the full guard.
John Lachance is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Lachance stays in close to Mack's body and controls the position.

Mack wants to stand up but Lachance is controlling him.

We're going to have a standup here because John Lachance wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Lachance on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lachance fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mack misses with an uppercut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mack dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Lachance shoots in and drives through. Mack sprawls well.
Jack Mack has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lachance trying to control the position from guard on top but Mack is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mack is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lachance defends well.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Lachance.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lachance, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
